December 2021 Happenings

Kick off winter with events and activities at Hall Memorial

December is such a busy month, you might think you don’t have a single minute to sit down and read, but we promise you, there’s always time! Just look at Santa!

Candy Sled Race is Back!

The Hall Memorial Candy Sled Race is back this year on December 9th. Pick up your Take and Make Candy Sled kit from December 1st, and return on race day at 5 pm - or shortly before that so that you can register - to race your sled in elimination bracket rounds. The grand prize is a real sled!

Only candy sleds made with the Take and Make kits will be eligible for racing, no additional materials can be added. This will even out the playing field for all contestants.

The race will be outdoors so dress warmly. It will start promptly at 5 pm and will end at 6 when the library closes. We’ll provide hot chocolate as you cheer on all participants. May the best sled win!

Digital collection spotlight: Hoopla’s Bonus Borrows

Hoopla is a streaming collection of ebooks, digital audiobooks, TV episodes, movies and music that is available to Hall Memorial patrons. Each month, our patrons can download or stream 4 items. Hoopla calls those “borrows.”

In November, Hoopla users may have noticed that we had “bonus borrows.” When a patron borrows one of those titles, they do not count towards the limit of four Hoopla borrows, and like all Hoopla titles, are available instantly.

All you need to access Hoopla - and Libby, our other digital collection - is your library account credentials. Start reading, watching, listening on the Hoopla Digital app today!
